San Antonio’s First Whole-Animal Sandwich Shop, Swine House Bodega, Announces Opening
Swine House Bodega, the city’s first whole-animal sandwich shop, is excited to announce its first opening in San Antonio. Swine House Bodega will be located in the shared space of Pinch Boil House and Bia Bar. A soft opening is set for Thursday, May 17 with the official opening on Monday, May 30.
Owned and operated by Joe Saenz, the restaurant sources pasture-raised meats from local farms for deli meats and charcuterie. For the past two years, Swine House originally catered pop-ups and special events around the city with the goal of building a community that is aware and enlightened by animal welfare and exquisite food experiences.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to contribute to the food scene in this city,” said Saenz. “When I was living in Brooklyn during my culinary school period, I couldn’t shake the feeling that San Antonio is where I belong. Now, three years later after returning back, I’ve fallen in love with the ingredients and meats available to this area, and I want to share the love and provide high-quality, fresh dishes to everyone.”
Swine House Bodega roasted whole pigs for breweries, cure salamis and prosciuttos for private parties, and smoke holiday hams for our favorite families around South Texas. Now the restaurant will serve this concept on a daily basis, offering breakfast and lunch sandwiches. The restaurant uses high-quality meats with fresh baked White Lily Flour biscuit sandwiches for the mornings, made from cultured butter and house-rendered lard, as well as ready-to-enjoy natural sourdough focaccia and New York-style submarine sandwiches for lunch.
Swine House Bodega will open at 124 N. Main Ave., San Antonio, TX, 78205. The restaurant’s hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. for breakfast and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m for lunch.
